Best Times of Year to Get Married in Hawaii

You might be thinking: All year round!

that’s definitely true, to an extent—we have consistent temperatures from 75-95 all year, and it really doesn’t get much hotter or colder than that!

But there are some weather things that you really couldn’t know unless you lived here :) So here’s the lowdown on the weather here in Hawai’i!

Spring (feb-may)

I think springtime has the best temperatures! it’s not too hot yet but just be aware there can be a lot of unexpected rain + this is the beginning of the busy season for weddings. (as it gets closer to april-may, the rain clears up a little bit more.)

the great thing about the rainy season is that waterfalls are more likely to be running! but the trails can also be incredibly muddy/mosquito heavy.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Summer (june-aug)

usually, there are bright blue skies and puffy clouds every day! which means it is also quite busy around the island. people are coming home from school or visiting during vacation season.

it doesn’t get unbearably hot until September, but there can often be fewer tradewinds (cool wind) and more Kona winds (hot wind) from June onwards.

also, summer is the best season for surfing on the south shore if you are interested in that. (my home break is diamond head ;)

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Fall (sept-nov)

interestingly, October is the hottest month of the year and it doesn’t get much cooler until december. everything can be on the dry side this time of year at the end of the sunny and hot season.

the great thing about the fall is how much emptier the beaches are + the days are still fairly long so there is a lot of sunlight to soak up.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Winter (dec-jan)

the secret weapon of winter Hawai’i weddings is the Late sunrise—if you want to get married at sunrise but also sleep in a little, this is the time to do it. The sun rises right around 7-7:30 during our winters!

so, Though it’s nice and cool, what people don’t know is that December through february is our WETTEST couple of months.

This means it would be more likely that it will rain or be overcast on your wedding day. On the upside, everything is so lush around this time!

if you are planning on visiting the North shore, it will be trafficky (due to the Eddie Aikau competition) and more dangerous to swim (due to large swells).

all year round, things to be aware of:

the same beautiful sun that we love drenching our bodies in… is also the sun that burns and drenches us in sweat LOL! please be careful + protect your skin, because the sun is much stronger here in hawai’i. refresh your sunscreen when you’re in the sun + wear a hat! (ps. use reef-safe sunscreen if you’re going into the ocean. ;)

we have a much higher humidity point than most places on the mainland—it’s wet hot. your hair may frizz, but your skin will be plump and hydrated!

we have quite a population of insects. be prepared to face mosquitoes year-round (and even more so in wet seasons) especially on foresty hikes.

so there’s the overview of a year in Hawai’i!

Regardless of when you decide is the best time for you two to elope in hawai’i, it will be so gorgeous. if you have further questions, let’s make something happen ;)
